Skins have real money value, and opening cases with them is gambling. This page is for anyone who plays on the sites we review.
Age: 18+
You must be 18 or older to use the gambling sites we cover. Some sites set a different minimum, and your country may set a higher one. Follow the higher age. We write for adults only.
Chicken Strike 2 is not written for readers in the United States, the United Kingdom or Australia. Rules there differ, and several sites we review are closed there. Check your local law before you play.
Skin gambling is gambling
Case opening, upgraders and case battles work like other games of chance: you stake something of value and the result is random. A site may still describe itself as something else. CSGORoll’s rules say “We are not a gambling site”, and the site calls itself an entertainment platform. We saw similar wording in the terms of other sites we review. A label does not change the mechanics or the risk.
Warning signs
Ask yourself if any of these is true:
- You play with more money or more skins than you planned.
- You keep playing to win back what you lost.
- You borrow money, or sell things you need, to play.
- You hide how much time or money you spend.
- You skip sleep, work, study or meals to stay on the site.
- You feel restless or angry when you try to stop.
- You deposit again straight after a withdrawal.
- Gambling is how you get out of a bad mood or a money problem.
One sign is a reason to slow down. Several are a reason to stop and talk to someone.
Practical tools
- Set a budget before you start. Decide the sum in advance and write it down.
- Deposit only what you can afford to lose. Do not use rent, bills or savings.
- Set a time limit. Use a timer and leave when it rings.
- Do not chase losses. A loss is not a debt the site owes you.
- Do not use borrowed money. Not a loan, not a friend’s account, not a card you cannot cover.
- Take breaks. Stop for a day or a week, and see how you feel.
Tools some sites offer
Where a site has limit or self-exclusion tools, use them. We found such tools on some sites, not all. Key-Drop lists deposit limits (day, week, month), session length reminders, a time-out from 24 hours to 7 days and self-exclusion in its account settings. CSGOEmpire lists a self-exclusion option for 24 hours, 3, 7, 15 or 30 days in the profile. We have not tested how these work in practice. Set them before you play.
Where to get help
These organisations are independent of us and of every site we review. Most offer free, confidential help online.
- Gambling Therapy (gamblingtherapy.org): online support for people affected by gambling.
- Gamblers Anonymous (gamblersanonymous.org): peer support groups.
- BetBlocker (betblocker.org): a free tool that blocks gambling sites on your devices.
- United Kingdom: GamCare (gamcare.org.uk), BeGambleAware (begambleaware.org) and GAMSTOP (gamstop.co.uk), which lets you self-exclude from licensed UK sites.
- United States: National Council on Problem Gambling (ncpgambling.org).
- Australia: Gambling Help Online (gamblinghelponline.org.au).
- Elsewhere: search for the gambling helpline of your own country, or use the international services above.
If you are in crisis, contact your local emergency service or a doctor.
Keep it in proportion
Gambling is not a source of income, and no strategy or code turns it into one. Every game we cover has a margin in the site’s favour, so over time losing is the expected result. Skins are not play money either: the value you stake is real.
